Selected Panelist for Discussion on Youth Shaping the Future of STEM
April 19, 2025 | One of four featured STEM panelists for the “The Future is Now: Youth Making a Difference” presentation, part of the virtual "Civic Saturday" panel discussion series produced by The Collective for Youth Empowerment in STEM & Society (CYESS). The video call was attended by several dozen students from across the country, seeking to learn how youth are shaping the future of STEM, as well as advice on building their own STEM networks.
Participating in the OUT In Tech Mentorship Program Kick-Off
April 17, 2025 | Honored to have been selected for the Spring 2025 cohort of the OUT In Tech "Mentorship Program", which will allow me to meet other LGBTQ+ members from the tech community across the United States and internationally, grow my professional network, and learn how to leverage tech for social change. Participated in the virtual "Kick-Off" session for the start of the 8-week program, as well as met with my assigned mentor, Marcus Ma.
Attending the United Nations 2025 ECOSOC Youth Forum
April 16, 2025 | Led my United Nations Association Bard College Chapter's Executive Leadership Team to the United Nations Headquarters in New York City to attend the 2025 United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Youth Forum.
BOS Coral Reef Workshop and Crochet Session
April 13, 2025 | Served as the Bard Office of Sustainability (BOS) lead event organizer and presenter for a special workshop that educated students on the importance of coral reefs. At the end of the presentation, I taught the attendees how to crochet their own piece of coral.
Face Painting at Bard's Circus Night Party
April 12, 2025 | Invited to be the official face painter for Bard's "Circus Night" event, which was a circus-themed party for students with treats, games, and performances. The event was a collaboration between Bard's Student Activities Board and the Office of Student Activities.
Soil Sampling Research Field Trip with Professor Perron
April 6, 2025 | Invited to join Professor Perron and the other students working in his research lab at Bard for a field trip to Sky High Farms in Columbia County, New York to collect soil samples for the research project he and Professor Jain are conducting to study the impact of farming practices on the nutritional content and microbial diversity of fermented vegetables.
Natural Dye Color Swatch Samples with the Black-Eyed Susan Flower
April 4, 2025 | For our first Natural Dye class project, I was assigned to work with the Black-Eyed Susan flower to use for making color swatch samples. Also, I was excited to have the opportunity to experiment with various additives to modify the color palettes produced by the plant-based dye.
Celebrating Women's History Month at Bard
March 29, 2025 | As the President of the United Nations Association at Bard College and the Co-Head of the Bard College Queer People of Color Club, I organized a co-sponsored event with the two organizations to celebrate Women's History Month with a special film screening and presentation highlighting the incredible women who shaped the Harlem Renaissance.
Planting Seeds at the Bard Farm during my Natural Dye Class
March 28, 2025 | For the first day of my Natural Dye Garden Practicum class, we spent our time planting Japanese Indigo and other flower seeds at the Bard Farm. Once fully mature, these plants will be used for making a natural dye for art projects by students in the Bard Studio Arts department.
BOS Composting Workshop and Crochet Session
February 23, 2025 | Served as the Bard Office of Sustainability (BOS) lead event organizer and presenter for a special workshop that educated students on the importance of microbes in the composting process. Also, I taught the attendees how to crochet their own microbes.
Valentine's Day Random Acts of Kindness
February 14, 2025 | For the past three years, I’ve dressed up as Cupid on Valentine's Day and passed out delicious chocolates along with hundreds of hand-sewn felt hearts I make myself.
Wanting to continue this tradition in college, I modified my Cupid outfit from the warm weather of Miami, Florida to be more suitable for the cold weather of Annandale-on-Hudson, New York and spent Valentine’s Day crisscrossing our snowy campus passing out my felt hearts and chocolates to all the Bard students, staff, faculty, and administrators I encountered.
Bard's AIMS+ Agroecology Research Fellowship with Professor Jain
February 10, 2025 | Working in the laboratory as a Spring 2025 term AIMS+ Agroecology Research Fellow with my labmate and Bard Professor Jain on the multiyear agroecology research project he and Professor Perron are conducting on New York State's Hudson Valley region soil health and the impact of farming practices on the nutritional content and microbial diversity of fermented vegetables.
Microbial Mapping Laboratory Research with Bard's PLUMM Project
January 6, 2025 | The first day of the PLUMM Project (Project-based Learning for Undergraduates in Microbial Mapping), an intensive three-week (January 6-23) research experience to train selected students from Bard College and SUNY Dutchess in STEM laboratory practices on multiple active research projects being conducted by Bard Professors Jude and Todd.
Natural Dye Making Field Trip to Local Artist Studio
December 14, 2024 | Delighted to have had the opportunity to attend a special field trip with Bard Professor Beka Goedde to the workshop of local artist Christy Gast. We learned how Ms. Gast makes natural dyes to use for her artwork.
United Nations Association Tabling Event Recruiting New Members
December 13, 2024 | As the Founding Member and President of the Bard Chapter of the United Nations Association USA, I had the chance to host a successful tabling event on campus with the Mid-Hudson Valley Chapter representative, Shantha Thangiah, where we informed students about the mission of the club and signed-up many new members.
Volunteering at the Bard Farm with Winterizing the Crop Fields
November 11, 2024 | Whenever possible, I find time to volunteer at the Bard Farm, performing various activities. The farm is 1.25 acres of land that provides sustainably grown produce to our campus and the neighboring community through Bard's dining service provider and a seasonal farm stand.
Bard College Registration and Move-in Day
August 9, 2024 | My family and I drove with a mini-van packed with my personal items from Miami, Florida to Annandale-on-Hudson, New York, for Bard College's Registration and Move-in Day activities.
It was an epic road trip that included fun-filled visits to family members in Pennsylvania and New York, as well as various stops at interesting attractions along the 1300-mile journey.
