    2024 Princeton Prize in Race Relations Award Winner

    Honored to be named the Princeton Prize South Florida Regional "Certificate of Accomplishment" winner for my "Teach the Truth Tour with Dr. Marvin Dunn: Learning From The Acts Of Racial Terror In Florida’s Black History” documentary film.

  • I am a freshman at Bard College who enthusiastically lives each day to the fullest. I am an artistic spirit who enjoys all things creative. I am a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community who tirelessly advocates 'Love is Love'. I am a neurodivergent thinker who refuses to let my dyslexia and dyscalculia hamper my academic success. I am a passionate environmentalist whose future career in STEM will positively impact our global community. I am an aspiring role model fully committed to ensuring my accomplishments inspire other girls - especially those who look like me - to achieve their best.

    National Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration Event

    September 19, 2024 | Bard College students were invited to celebrate the kick-off of National Hispanic Heritage Month with the Office of the Dean of Inclusive Excellence and Stevenson Library.

     

    Attendees learned how to make a "Worry Doll," an Indigenous Mayan practice and spoke about other scheduled National Hispanic Heritage Month activities on campus.

    Celebrating Back-to-School in the Community

    September 7, 2024 | While representing Bard College's "La Voz" magazine, I had the opportunity to participate in a local "Back-to-School" event where students received free backpacks and school supplies to celebrate the start of the new school year.

     

    We also distributed copies of the magazine and spoke to local families about the variety of Spanish-language content featured in each monthly issue.

    Summer Time Party on the Quad

    August 21, 2024 | The Bard College Center for Civic Engagement cohosted a block party celebration with Parkhurst Dining Services and the Office of Development and Alumni/ae Affairs.

     

    The event was held on the beautiful Kline Commons Lawn and included food from visiting food trucks, a great DJ as well as the opportunity to network with on-campus resources and local community partners.

    Bard College Registration and Move-in Day

    August 9, 2024 | My family and I drove with a mini-van packed with my personal items from Miami, Florida to Annadale-on-Hudson, New York, for Bard College's Registration and Move-in Day activities.

     

    It was an epic road trip that included fun-filled visits to extended family members in Pennsylvania and New York, as well as various stops at interesting attractions along the 1300-mile journey.

    2024 "Afterschool for All" Challenge

    June 10-12, 2024 | I was one of the more than 200 afterschool advocates from 44 states invited to participate in the "Afterschool Challenge" sponsored by the Afterschool Alliance.

     

    Advocates attended over 130 meetings with elected officials in Washington, DC. We reminded congressional supporters - like Senator Bernie Sanders (VT) - of the importance of funding for 21st Century Community Learning Centers and other vital federal support for afterschool and summer learning programs.

    Speaker at The Women's Fund Annual "Power of the Purse" Event

    April 26, 2024 | I was invited by The Women's Fund Miami-Dade to be a featured speaker at their annual "Power of the Purse" event at the Hilton Miami Downtown.

     

    This event attracts some 1,000 “Who’s Who” leaders, philanthropists, game-changers, and supporters throughout South Florida, who all envision a Miami-Dade County where power and possibility are not limited by gender.

    STEMbassador at the inaugural 2024 National STEM Festival

    April 11-13, 2024 | Honored to be selected to represent the Million Girls Moonshot's Flight Crew program and serve as one of the five official STEMbassadors at the inaugural National STEM Festival held in Washington, D.C. during National STEM Week.

     

    I was tasked with escorting event VIPs through the Student Expo, interviewing winning students for social media posts, and participating as a host in TikTok Live broadcasts throughout the festival activities.

    Special Access Tour of NASA's Kennedy Space Center

    March 28, 2024 | During our school’s Spring Break, my younger brother, Jaral Arroyo-Jefferson, and I had the opportunity to visit NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida - a tour of a lifetime for two students aspiring careers working at a space organization like NASA.

     

    This unique, behind-the-scenes experience was made possible at the request of our mentor, retired NASA Astronaut and NASA Administrator, Charles F. Bolden Jr.

    Featured on the Cover of Impact.Edition Magazine's March 2024; Panelist during the Issue Launch Party

    March 13, 2024 | I had the distinction of being featured on the cover of the March 2024 issue of Impact.Edition Magazine along with my fellow Ransom Everglades classmate, Will Charouhis, for our environmental activism as leading Miami youth advocates.

     

    The launch party for the issue was held at Moonlighter FabLab in Miami Beach and included a panel discussion with Will, myself, and other individuals featured in the issue.
